Before I started training with Manal I was a middle-aged blob, weighing in at almost 90 kilograms, and unable to run for a bus. I now think of myself as the (middle aged) thinking man’s sex symbol, intelligent, fit and comfortable in her body. It is so good to feel strong and fit – now I can run a half marathon and I look and feel great! Not bad for a 60 year old.
Training with Manal is such a delight. She takes Machiavellian pleasure in pushing your body to places it’s never been before. In my case starting with a walk/run around a block to the point where I can run a half marathon. I keep coming back for more because the pain is worth it when the endorphins kick in and you feel so strong and proud of what you can achieve.
I’ve trained with Manal for over ten years now and every week is a new adventure. She finds endlessly new ways to keep the training from becoming a boring routine. I never know what to expect and she always pushes your body to new strengths.
